Racing out of the cold water after taking part in the Polar Plunge at St Clair Beach yesterday are (from left) Shinae Stanley, Jemma Wilson and Grace Cotter (all 14).
With the air temperature dipping below 10degC and the sea not much warmer, about 200 brave souls, many colourfully dressed, braved the Pacific Ocean for the 90th annual plunge.
Many more hundreds of fully clothed spectators looked on from the Esplanade.
