A disciplinary hearing into serious misconduct has been held for two Dunedin police officers convicted of assault earlier this year, but the result will remain confidential for at least several weeks.
Southern police district operations manager Inspector Lane Todd said no result would be released until staff at police national headquarters in Wellington had completed an analysis of the results of the hearing.
That process would take at least several weeks, he said.
The officers, Constables Brenton Rooney and Duncan Hollebon, were convicted of the assault, in February 2009, of a man whom the on-duty officers were trying to restrain at the time.
Both officers have been suspended on full pay for 22 months.
They are both appealing their convictions.
