Literally the new face of iD fashion, after a 10-year absence from runway shows, L’Oreal is back, onboard as sponsor for iD this year, something which is super exciting for L’Oreal Paris NZ makeup director Lisa Matson.
“Oh My God!” I said, “Hallelujah! I love it.”
A complete perfectionist, Lisa takes the makeup design process super seriously; creating much more work for herself by photographing models in the makeup and making portrait prints instead of face charts for a visual brief to the dozen backstage artists.
This year, “Genderless Tribe is the theme, so I’ve designed an androgynous look focusing on the skin and brows, with the intention of blurring the gender identity of the models on the night!”
With no mascara and a neutral palette pulling down femininity to let the clothing speak, it’s an extremely pared back brief, even to the model’s nails, which are nude and buffed to a high sheen.
Futuristic gender nihilism hair will be the distinguishing factor, but Lisa hopes the audience will struggle to tell male from female.
As an associated event, Lisa will present a free public masterclass at H&J Smith, offering tips and tricks, including the latest makeup techniques that she uses on her celebrity clients.
