Homes and businesses in central Balclutha experienced a brief power cut at 11am today.
A spokesperson for local electricity network supplier Powernet said the three-minute outage, which affected 1529 customers, had been caused when faulty wiring was discovered during scheduled works at the town's Charlotte St substation.
No injuries were caused and power was quickly restored, he said.
