Development of the former Milburn cement works site, in Burnside, Dunedin, is well under way.

A spokeswoman for landowner Nash and Ross Ltd said a large square building had been constructed on the site (centre of photograph) and was being leased by Escea Fireplaces as a storage warehouse for its nearby factory in Carnforth St.

The remainder of the land would to be used as a commercial landfill, run by Nash and Ross.

The site would contain areas for disposal of general solid waste, asbestos waste and a quarantine area for contaminated waste.
