Japanese amateur Shouken Yamashita made a dream start to his New Zealand Open today, scoring a hole in one with his first shot.
Yamashita strode up to the hole on the Hills course and proceeded to score an ace on the 150m hole. He was starting his round on the 10th hole and it was a dream beginning.
It was believed to be the second time he has scored an ace with his first shot of the day.
He was teamed up with two Korean professionals Younghan Song and Hyun Woo Ryn for the pro-am event.
The Open has started in overcast conditions with rain falling.
Yamashita is a first-time amateur at the competition.
