Glad tidings

Making the most of the king tide at their boat shed near Glenfalloch last night are (from left) James (13), Gavin, Monique (15) and Kelly Palmer.

It was the highest the family had seen the tide in the three years they had owned the shed, Mr Palmer said.

"It’s hard to say how much but it is higher than a usual spring tide," he said.

Because the weather was nice the family decided to make the most of the high water mark.

"My son went swimming and me and my daughter did some swimming and my wife just sat and enjoyed it all."

King tides, or perigean spring tides,  occur when there is a new or full moon when the moon is at its closest to Earth.
