Kate Butler and her 3-year-old border collie, Spring, won two novice maxi divisions in the agility category at the National Dog Training Assembly 2010, which ran from October 22 to 25.
The dynamic duo were crowned victors in several agility-focused disciplines, and won the top spot in two of the four novice classes on offer.
On October 22 they proved victorious against 179 dogs, and on October 25 defeated a further 204 dogs.
Spring was also named the fastest dog in the poles discipline of the total 179 competitors in the first novice class.
A Frankton resident, Ms Butler has been training dogs in agility-based exercises for the past 15 years.
"I've had two dogs before Spring and the best I ever achieved was second place ... I'm very pleased we managed to win this year," she said.
Founded in 2008, the WDAC has 15 regular dog and trainer members. Admission is open to anyone with an interest.
Denis Mander, secretary of the WDAC, said club members were all "really proud of Kate and her recent accomplishments ... This is the first time a dog and handler has ever won from the Wakatipu region".
