Revamped bus timetables to go out next week

Some rescheduling of the Balaclava to University weekday bus services is just one of the changes to feature in the new Dunedin bus timetable going out to city residents next week.

The timetables will have new features including additional information on services, a colour-coded route index, a page on school-bus services and route variation numbers on maps.

It will also have a more logical order of routes, including placing all Mosgiel services in the same location.

Otago Regional Council director policy and resource planning Fraser McRae said there were few changes to the bus services themselves, although there was some rescheduling of the Balaclava to University weekday services.

"We have scheduled new departure times at quarter-past and quarter-to the hour during the inter-peak period of 9am to 3pm to avoid a clumping of services in the main street," Mr McRae said.

Dunedin bus patrons should notethere would be a slight increase in fares from the start of next month to reflect the increase in GST to 15%, he said.

About 46,000 bus timetables will be delivered to all homes in the greater Dunedin area next week.

The following week, 3200 residential Post Office box holders will receive their copies.
