Poor weather and delayed arrivals have not put a dampener on the more than 900 Gay Ski Week participants in Queenstown this week.

The annual event has attracted visitors from as far afield as Texas and Edinburgh who descended on the resort on Saturday for a week of activities including skiing, bowling and a pool party.

Creative director Craig Lawson said it had been an "amazing" week so far.

"We are having a lot of fun."

Fields were closed on Sunday, so people had taken the opportunity to either relax or explore the area's other activities such as sky diving and bungy jumping.

The up to 200 people who experienced flight delays because of the Canterbury earthquake did not miss out on any planned pursuits.

"It did affect us, but it worked out OK. We've been doing it for eight years now, so we are used to being thrown stuff," Mr Lawson said.
