He announced he would play five shows in the two countries including his only New Zealand show in Auckland on December 16.
The other shows are in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
The last time he toured New Zealand and Australia was in 1993.
On the ''One On One'' tour, McCartney has played 45 shows across 13 countries to nearly 1.5 million people.
On the live broadcast last night, he answered fans' questions posted on social media.
He did not answer the plea of Rochelle Crossman, of Dunedin, who posted: ''Come to Dunedin's great stadium in New Zealand! We'll fill it three times over!''
