Three-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier Pie has adopted three unwanted kittens, nursing them from birth despite never having been a mother.
The dog comforted the kittens when they were abandoned by their mother.
After a couple of days of the kittens trying to suckle the bull terrier, Pie started to produce milk and has nourished them since.
Pie has never been a mother, and surprised her owners with the unlikely maternal inflection.
Two teenagers in the household, Gabrielle (14) and Liam (13) Butler, have been supervising the kittens' progress during the school holidays.
The two females and a male are now three weeks old, and seem perfectly healthy.
The kittens' mother had abandoned her first litter as well.
