Escapee deemed dangerous

Police are urging anyone who has seen Peter John Carr, who escaped from the Dunedin District Court on Thursday, to contact them immediately.

Carr (42) should be treated as dangerous and should not be approached by the public, Acting Senior Sergeant Chris George said.

Carr is European, 185cm in height with a thin build and short hair.

He was last seen wearing a dark blue polar fleece top and jeans, Acting Snr Sgt George said.

Carr was arrested on Thursday afternoon on charges of misuse of a telephone and another charge of sending a written threat.

Judge Paul Kellar refused to grant him bail and remanded him in custody to April 15, but Carr escaped from custody about 4.40pm.
