Diners from the Far North, Kerikeri to Stewart Island and out to the Chathams gathered for ‘Cooking Up a Storm”, Cyclone Relief dinner, Eat Up/Do Good event held on March 20, 2023.

The reach for the event was extraordinary.

It is all thanks to AI Brown New Zealand Chef for the idea and to the venues throughout New Zealand who were unanimous in their support, with over 60 restaurants participating. There were 6000 tickets sold prior to the event.

“It’s been amazing to see the support from every sector of the hospo community come together for this opportunity to raise funds for those effected by the cyclone. With almost 150 venues on board, 100 odd wineries donating cases of wine,” Al Brown said.

Participating Te Anau restaurant The Fat Duck Gastro Pub sold 48 tickets and owner Cameron Davies said: “We were over the moon as a sellout for us.”

“Big shout out to our Te Anau community for supporting this amazing cause, to our team, for giving up their day off and donating their time.

"Our generous sponsors and to AI Brown New Zealand Chef, Restaurant Association of New Zealand for organising “Cooking Up a Storm” Cyclone Relief Dinner.
