Benjamin Netanyahu says Poland must find those who "desecrated" the place where more than 1 million people, mostly Jews, were killed during World War II.
Netanyahu said the sign is of the deepest historical importance to Jews.
The iron sign, hung over the gate to the former Nazi death camp, bore the cynical phrase "Arbeit Macht Frei" - German for "Work Sets You Free."
It was stolen on Saturday.
