New chick welcomed at Queenstown Kiwi Park

Queenstown's Kiwi Park has waited a long time to welcome its newest resident, Pāko.

Born almost two weeks ago, they are the first kiwi chick to hatch at the sanctuary in eight years and the first for the park's breeding pair.

Pako’s gender will be known once one of their feathers undergoes a DNA test.  The chick will stay at the park for at least the next six months and may become a permanent resident.
