Where are they now?

LAUREN FOWLER

2012: Top scholar at her school for four years in a row, Fowler was also an Otago tennis representative. Seeing her father almost die from a brain bleed had inspired her to study medicine.

2022: Fowler gained a bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery (with distinction) and is training to be a psychiatrist. Based in Auckland, she doesn’t play much tennis any more because of the time commitment required. She’s happy to report her father made a full recovery.

TED GREENSMITH-WEST

2012: The Amnesty International member had gained the top mark in New Zealand for the Trinity College Guildhall of London speech and drama exams. He planned to study law and politics and hoped to eventually work in international criminal justice.

2022: A solicitor representing claimants in the Waitangi Tribunal, Greensmith-West lives in Auckland. He has a law degree and an arts degree majoring in international relations and political science. He enjoys creative writing and organises gigs which showcase local musicians, comedians and poets.
