Where are they now?
LAURA BARTON
2012: Barton was a violinist in the NZSO National Youth Orchestra and the Southern Sinfonia. She hoped to study music at Victoria University and to become a professional violinist.
2022: Barton is a violinist with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra and a music teacher. She has a master of music research from the Australian National Academy of Music/Griffith University and has toured New Zealand, Australia, China and Germany as part of various ensembles.
HOLLY CADZOW
2012: Cadzow was a member of the under-18 New Zealand basketball development team when she suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury. She hoped to study medicine.
2022: Cadzow has a bachelor of medicine and a bachelor of surgery from the University of Otago and is a doctor at Western Health in Melbourne. While at Otago Medical School, she helped set up a peer tutorial network which is still in operation. Complications from her original ACL injury led to her having seven knee surgeries and as a result, she has not played high-level sport in recent years.
