Maori Party MP Te Ururoa Flavell has drafted a member's Bill that would give communities more control over where pokie machines are installed in their areas.
"Like smoking, gambling has had a devastating impact on Maori whanau and low income communities," he said today.
"I'm tired of the harm caused, especially by pokie machines."
Members bills go into a ballot and one or two are usually drawn every second Wednesday Parliament is sitting.
Without government support they don't get past their first readings.
