Wright died after falling from the balcony of Gable Tostee's 14th floor Surfers Paradise apartment in August 2014.
The Gold Coast playboy was found not guilty of her murder and manslaughter after a two-weeek trial in Brisbane Supreme Court in October.
Her death was referred back to the state coroner Terry Ryan, who this week confirmed an investigation - which he suspended due to the trial - had been reopened, the Courier Mail reported.
"The coroner will be reviewing all the documentation before making a decision whether to hold an inquest," a state coroner's office spokesman told The Sunday Mail.
"A coroner cannot hold an inquest until the finalisation of criminal proceedings.
"If, from information obtained when investigating a death, a coroner reasonably suspects a person has committed an offence, the coroner must give the information to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
"Any charges are a matter for the DPP."
A charge such as deprivation of liberty could potentially be recommended, the newspaper reported.
At the October trial, the court heard Wright and Tostee spent the night of August 7, 2014, drinking and having sex in Tostee's home, on the 14th floor of Surfers Paradise's Avalon Apartments.
Audio recorded by Tostee on the night appeared to show the pair fighting, and captured Wright's terrified screams, as Tostee allegedly refused to let her go home.
He locked her on his balcony, before she plunged to her death while trying to climb to the balcony below.
