High profile sports broadcaster Tony Veitch has been given his old job back on Radio Sport.

Veitch will take over breakfast while current host D'Arcy Waldegrave will move to the late-afternoon drivetime programme.

Veitch resigned in 2008 as details of a domestic dispute, in which he assaulted former partner Kristin Dunne-Powell, became public.

He pleaded guilty in Auckland District Court to charges of reckless disregard causing injury and was sentenced to 300 hours community service, nine months supervision and ordered to attend a programme directed by his probation officer aimed at stopping violence.

He was also fined $10,000. He had earlier paid $150,000 in reparation to Ms Dunne-Powell.

Veitch said he looked forward to creating a fresh show in 2011.

"I can't wait to begin this next chapter in my life. I'm very grateful to The Radio Network."
