A 19-year-old woman has been arrested after a stabbing in Lower Hutt left a woman in intensive care overnight.
The 35-year-old woman was taken to Wellington Hospital in a serious condition after the incident at an address on Cambridge Terrace, Naenae, about 2.10pm yesterday (Tuesday).
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Cooper of Lower Hutt police said the 19-year-old woman was charged with assault last night and further charges were likely.
She will appear in Lower Hutt District Court today.
Police would today carry out a scene examination.
They urged anyone who was around Cambridge Terrace yesterday between Kowhai St and Wingate Bridge, between 1pm and 2.10pm, to get in touch.
