A 16-year-old charged with murdering 59-year-old south Auckland policeman Denis Phillips has appeared briefly in court.
The youth, whose name is suppressed, showed little emotion as he appeared in Papakura Youth Court this morning.
He was remanded in custody and will reappear on August 6 .
Judge Sharon McAuslan suppressed all other details.
The body of Mr Phillips, who had been with police for 12 years, was found in his Papakura home on Saturday morning. No details about his death have been released.
