The driver of a stolen car was caught by police after crashing into a KFC outlet in Ashburton.
After being chased on foot the driver was captured but the two other occupants of the car eluded police.
The car was stolen following a break in at Robbie's Bar and Restaurant in Ashburton, after which police found the car nearby while attending a burglary at Tinwald Supervalue.
Canterbury police also dealt with burglaries at Redmonds Homeware Store and Temuka New World overnight.
