A seriously injured boy has been taken to hospital after emergency services were called to a home in western Southland.
A St John spokesman said an ambulance was called to a house in Tinkertown, near Ohai, at 6.33pm today.
A boy under the age of five was taken to Southland Hospital's emergency department with serious injuries, the spokesman said.
A Fire Service spokesman said firefighters from the Ohai Volunteer Fire Brigade assisted St John staff at the house in Tinkertown Rd after being called at 6.37pm.
The Otago Daily Times understands the injuries were a result of the child being scalded by hot water.
