Macsyna King's sister says police asked where the pair drove on the evening twins Chris and Cru were fatally injured, as there were suspicions their story was made up.
Emily King, Macsyna's younger sister, told the High Court at Auckland today the route the pair took on June 12 2006, from South Auckland to West Auckland.
Chris Kahui is on trial for the murders of his twin sons to Macsyna.
The Crown alleges he fatally injured the twins in their South Auckland home, while defence lawyers say someone else, probably Macsyna, hurt them.
Defence lawyers say mobile phone records proved Macsyna and Emily had returned to the house where the twins were hurt, rather than driving directly to West Auckland.
Emily, a painter from South Auckland, said she got a phone call from her husband asking her to bring their four-wheel-drive home, as they were driving to a friend's house in West Auckland.
She told the court police visited her several times after her sister was questioned by defence lawyers several weeks ago about the phone records.
She said she had not remembered the route they had taken until several weeks ago, because she did not think it important.
She said the police wanted to know why the phone records showed her mobile being in Mangere that evening, when she had said she was in West Auckland.
Crown prosecutor Richard Marchant asked her when she had remembered the phone call from her husband.
A few days after the police had first contacted her several weeks ago, she said.
"Can I be honest? I was told to remember (the route) because there was going to be some sort of conspiracy that I was making it up for my sister.
"I needed to be clear about the route I travelled that night."
She denied talking to her sister about the route they travelled.
After returning from her friend's house the pair spent the evening at Emily's house.
She said her husband told her when they arrived home one of the twins had stopped breathing.
She tried to wake her sister without success, but she returned to sleep and told her the next morning.
The trial continues.
