Reward offered for information about missing Nelson man

A reward of $10,000 has been offered for information about missing Nelson man Leo Lipp-Neighbours, who was last seen on January 24.

The reward is being offered by Crimestoppers, an independent anonymous tip-off line.

The 19-year-old was last seen at his flat in Nelson about 4am when, after having a bit to drink, he told his flatmates he was just going outside.

He drove off wearing just a T-shirt and jeans, did not have any food and only a little bit of cash. His money card and cellphone have not been used since.

His car is a distinctive orange Toyota Corolla station wagon, registration NQ7258.

Mr Lipp-Neighbours is the only son of Charlotte Lipp and Colin Neighbours, who along with friends had searched the top of the South Island extensively, including three helicopter searches.

They failed to find any sign of their son.

Mr Lipp-Neighbours was described as 1.83m tall, caucasian, of slim build with blue eyes.

A mechanical engineering student at Canterbury University who had successfully completed his first year, Mr Lipp-Neighbours did not want to go back this year.

Police have continued to search for the missing man, but Crimestoppers was available for people who for whatever reason could not, or did not wish to, contact police.

"We're hoping that there is someone out there who knows something about Leo's disappearance and will ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with information," Crimestoppers chief executive Lou Gardiner said.
