A magnitude 5.7 earthquake has struck 45km south of St Arnaud, in the upper South Island.
The quake, which was 65km deep, happened at 1.38pm.

People who reported the quake to GeoNet came from the upper South Island and lower North Island, and classed the quake as 'light' or weak'.
A Central Fire Communications spokeswoman said there were no reports of injuries or damage to buildings.
