Police investigating the murder of Manawatu farmer Scott Guy have received a positive response following calls for information about obscenities painted on the Guys' home over two years ago.
Police had received over a dozen calls since going public with images of graffiti yesterday and a small number of calls had also been made to the Crimestoppers line, police said.
Mr Guy, 31, was shot dead in the driveway of his Aorangi Rd, Feilding, home in the early hours of July 8 last year.
Just over 18 months before his murder - on the night of January 30, 2009 - a home being built by him and his wife Kylee Guy was vandalised, with extensive damage estimated to be worth around $13,800.
A police spokeswoman said today officers would now investigate whether any of the new information, received from the calls, had any relevance to the homicide investigation.
Ms Guy last night joined appeals for people with information about obscenities painted on her home to come forward.
The phrase "Fuken Bitch Slappr" was painted in large letters on an outside wall of the house and another phrase on a different wall which has been kept secret by police.
Police said the phrase that had been blocked out was not a name but police could not reveal more because of the investigation.
"Kylee begs anyone who has any thoughts or seen anyone acting strange around the time to please come forward," said Chanelle Bullock, speaking yesterday on her sister's behalf.
"She is wanting that one person to come forward with anything that will help solve the horrible way in which she has lost her best friend and husband Scotty.
"Kylee is hoping with the photos being published it will get people thinking and talking. As a family we are praying that the media spotlight on this will give some insight on who did this and why."
Police said the graffiti was just one of a number of inquiries forming part of the investigation.
Police wanted to know why the property was targeted and whether the vandalism was linked to Mr Guy's murder.
