A pizza delivery driver was shot in the stomach with an air gun as he delivered pizza to an Upper Hutt house last night.
The 18-year-old suffered just minor injuries despite being shot at close range as he waited for people in the house to return with money about 10.40pm, said Detective Sergeant Tony Heathcote of Upper Hutt police.
The driver was shaken by the shooting, which appeared to be unprovoked, he said.
An air rifle had been recovered. Police were interviewing about 10 people who were in the house at the time and had not yet arrested anyone or laid charges.
"We are just trying to work through who had the air rifle," Mr Heathcote said.
