One person has died in a crash on the Winton-Wreys Bush Highway, in Southland.
Senior Sergeant Darryl Lennane said two vehicles were involved, and at least one person was trapped in a vehicle.
Emergency services are still at the scene, and detours have been put in place.
Motorists in the area should expect delays.
