One person has died in a house fire in the Wellington region overnight.
Police said emergency services were called to the blaze in Trentham, Upper Hutt shortly after 8pm.
"When services arrived the fire was well established.
"Unfortunately one person has been confirmed as deceased inside the address," police said.
The cause of the fire was still unknown and a forensic examination was being carried out this morning.
