Two members of a Mongrel Mob family allegedly involved in a violent clash with Blenheim police on October 26, 2009 have again been remanded, this time with bail to continue until July 29 or 30.
Tony Taurima, 44 at the time of the incident and Denise Adele August, 33 and a mother of six, appeared in Blenheim District Court today before Judge Tony Zohrab.
Taurima is accused of threatening to kill a police officer as well as resisting police and assaulting police.
August faces charges of resisting and assaulting police, as well as intentionally damaging a police vehicle.
Taurima has claimed that Blenheim police, who used pepper spray when he, August and Les Te Rawha Edmonds were arrested during the confrontation, had also pepper sprayed his five children.
They were aged between 13 months and 13 years at the time. The incident had occurred when police arrived after a report of an assault on a woman.
At the time, Taurima alleged that the children were left screaming in pain and without medical help for over an hour.
The judge granted the request by counsel for an adjournment, pointing out that there were three matters before the court, with another incident last year to be considered as well.
All three cases would require the same witnesses and police officers and he ruled they should be heard together.
Bail, which includes the requirement to live at their personal address and to consume no alcohol or illicit drugs, was continued.
