Te Anau Police are investigating the theft of the 5m alloy 3D marine-designed boat between January 18 and 20.
The 5m alloy 3D marine-designed boat, with a 350 Chevrolet motor, and a single-axle trailer were taken from the Home Creek Nursery at Manapouri, Sgt Johnston said.
The offenders had "obviously" known what they were after, having unlocked a chain across a driveway and removed the boat and trailer from its position at the back of the property, about 200m down the winding drive, he said.
The owner was "pretty keen" to see the boat returned and Sgt Johnston said anyone with information could contact the Te Anau Police on 03 249 7600.
