A prolific burglar who ransacked his own children's school at night has been jailed.
Daniel Edmondson, 39, of New Plymouth, admitted eight charges, including seven of burglary when he appeared in the New Plymouth District Court this week, the Taranaki Daily News reported.
He also broke in to a nearby church, repertory society and several houses, his haul of property, food and alcohol worth nearly $3000.
The school principal told in a victim impact report of his disbelief and disappointment at Edmondson, saying the school made every effort to accommodate him and include him in the wider school fraternity.
Jailing Edmondson for three years, three months, Judge Allan Roberts accepted he was down on his luck, struggling with a morphine addiction and had mental health issues.
