A court-imposed suppression order on the name of a man charged with murdering a woman in Tauranga on Sunday and trying to murder her daughter has lapsed.
Tamati Mason, 41, is accused of murdering of Sandra Brown, 59, and attempting to murder her daughter Kate Brown, 27.
Mrs Brown was found dead in her home in the suburb of Bellevue by paramedics on Sunday. Her daughter was seriously hurt but her injuries were not life threatening.
Mason appeared in the District Court in Tauranga yesterday and was remanded in custody to appear again on March 7.
His name and the names of both his victims were suppressed until midday today.
