One of two teenagers charged with attempted murder after a policeman was attacked with a machete at Taihape on December 11 last year has pleaded guilty.
Japhet Joseph Simiona, 18, of Awahuri, near Feilding, was remanded for sentence on April 5 when he appeared before Judge Peter Callinicos in Wanganui Youth Court today.
Senior Constable Bruce Mellor was attacked with a machete after he stopped a stolen red Mazda 323 hatchback just north of Taihape following reports about a car driving erratically.
He was left with a fractured skull, broken jaw and eye socket as well as extensive cuts to the face.
A 14-year-old co-accused, whose name is suppressed, has been remanded in the care of CYF until April.
