A forestry worker lost part of his leg in an accident in Northland this afternoon.
Emergency services responded to the workplace injury near Broadwood about 2.45pm, police said.
The man was initially in a serious condition after losing one leg below the knee.
His condition improved after he was stabilised and he was flown to Whangarei Base Hospital by the Northland Emergency Services Trust helicopter.
The incident had been referred to the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment's labour group for investigation.
