Crews have put out a fire in the laundry at Invercargill Prison.
A Fire Service shift manager said five crews were sent to the prison in Southland after an alarm was activated this afternoon.
Firefighters were still at the prison mopping up this evening, but the situation was under control, he said.
It was not known what caused the fire.
