EQC still working on invoice issues

The Earthquake Commission (EQC) still has "a number of issues" with some of the invoices filed with it by Action Demolition, but will work through the irregularities and missing information with the company.

EQC acting chief executive Bryan Dunne said it held constructive discussions yesterday over emergency works invoices from the company that have been the cause of debate in recent weeks.

Mr Dunne said the meeting was productive.

EQC had continued with its review process before yesterday's meeting and had already paid some invoices.

"There were a number issues with some of the invoices and Action Demolition has agreed to work with EQC to provide missing information and correct any irregularities."

Action Demolition director Calvin Fisher, of Dunedin, agreed yesterday's meeting was positive.

"We will now work with EQC to resolve the issues that both parties have and look forward to a strong working relationship in the future."

Paul Munro, of Dunedin, who clients and staff believe was running the demolition company in Christchurch, was accused on television this week of charging EQC for work on earthquake-damaged Christchurch homes that had not actually been done.
