Part of a Christchurch river is being guarded after the discovery of a man's body.
Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Worner said the body was found in the Heathcote River about 7.20pm yesterday.
Police were waiting for the results of a post-mortem examination to establish the cause of death, he said.
The scene would be guarded until further notice.
