Arthur's Pass fire flares up again

A blaze near Arthur's Pass has flared up again, almost one week after it first broke out.

Three fire ground crews and a helicopter with a monsoon bucket are battling the scrub fire at Mt Horrible.

Fire Service shift manager Tim Reynolds said crews are dealing with "hotspots" that came up last night.

Mr Reynolds said a section of State Highway 73 is closed will the helicopter is operating.

The fire first broke out last Sunday, temporarily closing State Highway 73.

Fire crews and five helicopters contained the first blaze on Monday morning.
