Air New Zealand passengers can now check in online using smartphones and tablets, and be notified instantly of a change in their flight schedule.
A new Air NZ mobile app for iPhone and android users will allow passengers to check in remotely for domestic and international flights.
Online check-in will be available from 24 hours before departure and up to 90 minutes before international flights, and 30 minutes before domestic flights.
The new app is a rebuilt version of Air New Zealand's existing mobile app mPass.
Air NZ's general manager of customer experience Calum Laming said the development would save customers time and allow them to print a boarding pass from home, or use their smartphone at boarding kiosks.
Up-to-date flight information, details about airports, personal travel information, traffic and weather forecasts are also available.
The airline's check-in area at Auckland International Airport is also being overhauled to move passengers through faster, with 55 new self-check kiosks and 12 bag drops.
