Air New Zealand has come in seventh place in the Skytrax World Airline Awards, two places down on last year's fifth placing.
It remained ahead of Australian airline Qantas, which slipped to eighth from seventh in 2010.
For the second year in a row Air New Zealand was named best airline Asia/Pacific, in the ceremony at the Paris Air Show, ahead of Qantas in second place and Jetstar.
Air New Zealand also picked up awards for world's best premium economy class airline, and world's best premium economy class airline catering.
Skytrax chief executive Edward Plaisted said Air New Zealand continued to be a pioneer within the premium economy market.
The airline's awards for best premium economy and the inaugural best premium economy catering clearly proved its efforts had been popular with passengers.
The awards were voted for by more than 18.8 million airline passengers from 100 different nationalities.
Qatar Airways was named the best airline in the world, followed by Singapore Airlines and Asiana Airlines.
