Schools work on Stage Challenge

Eight Otago schools are preparing to produce a massive night of youth creativity and expression at the Regent Theatre as part of the ASB 2010 Stage Challenge next month.

Pupils from Blue Mountain College, Columba College, John McGlashan College, Kaikorai Valley College, Logan Park High School, Otago Girls High School, Queen's High School and Wakatipu High School will perform at the theatre on May 14.

They will be among nearly 200 schools performing in 13 venues across New Zealand.

Stage Challenge has been part of New Zealand's youth performing arts scene since 1993.

Born out of the Australian Rock Eisteddfod Challenge, the event incorporates dance, drama and design within an eight-minute performance, and encourages pupils to be their best without the use of drugs, including alcohol and tobacco.
