A scene involving a yacht and a helicopter on Otago Harbour sparked considerable curiosity yesterday.
A photo of the incident was posted on Twitter yesterday afternoon with the uploader wondering what was going on.
It turned out the helicopter had been hired to move a boat from a residential property across Portobello Rd and on to the harbour.
Helicopters Otago pilot David Gale said the man had been building the boat for several years.
''He built it in his front yard and had no way of carting it down to the harbour.''
Mr Gale said Portobello Rd was closed for a couple of minutes while the yacht was moved.
