Road workers intervened to prevent a woman being assaulted during a road rage incident.
Police are calling for witnesses to the incident at the intersection of South and Glen Rds about 1.10pm on Monday.
Detective Inspector Steve Kelly said the victim was travelling in a silver Mitsubishi when the occupants of a following vehicle became enraged and stopped her.
''A male and female from the following car got out, damaged the victim's car and assaulted her,'' Det Insp Kelly said. Road workers who saw the incident intervened.
The pair had an argument with the woman which turned violent. It was unclear what led to the dispute, Det Insp Kelly said.
