Woman arrested over air rage on Dunedin flight

Alleged "aggressive and destructive" behaviour on a domestic flight has resulted in a 26-year-old Wellington woman being arrested by Dunedin police.

Senior Sergeant Steve Aitken, of Dunedin, said the woman was on a Mt Cook ATR flight from Wellington to Dunedin on Monday morning when she was asked by airline staff to move to another seat.

Snr Sgt Aitken said she refused and became aggressive and destructive during the flight. The woman was greeted by police upon her arrival at Dunedin International Airport and charged with breaching the Civil Aviation Act.

No-one was injured and passengers did not appear to be in any danger during the incident, Snr Sgt Aitken said.

An Air New Zealand spokeswoman said there were 44 passengers on board at the time, but she refused to comment any further because the matter was before the court.

The woman would appear in the Dunedin District Court later this week, Snr Sgt Aitken said.
