The trucks were loaded after the successful first transfer of sections to the site near Lake Mahinerangi yesterday morning, project engineer Stewart Reid said.
They were again due to leave the wharf about 4am tomorrow, in a slow-moving convoy of three trucks and seven pilot vehicles, travelling at less than 60kmh from Dunedin, along State Highway 87 through Mosgiel and on to Mahinerangi Rd.
Engineers were last night monitoring the weather, hoping predicted high winds would drop away so that the first of the sections could be set atop its foundation today, Mr Reid confirmed.
Delivery of the rest of the components, including the turbines, was expected to finish by the end of February.
