Firefighters were called to a Dunedin City Council-owned flat yesterday after reports of the smell of smoke.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokeswoman said fire crews from Roslyn and Dunedin Central responded to a callout on Taieri Road  about noon.

Upon arrival they could smell "electrical burning", so used a thermal imaging camera to investigate further, she said. No fire was found  and the issue was left in the hands of the tenant and council.
